Founded in 1958 by Drs. Cloyce Bradley, Ray Fessey, F.T. Billings, Addison Scoville, and G. Allen Lawrence, the Nashville Academy of Medicine Foundation originally served to make loans to deserving medical students to help them complete their medical education. In 1980, the trust was amended to allow the funds to be used for purposes related to medical education, which remains its mission today. In recent years, the Foundation has sponsored two EMPHASIS Scholars at Vanderbilt University Medical School, and is currently involved in a project to educate physicians about the HPV vaccine.
The Foundation Board of Directors reviews funding requests for quality programming with an educational focus several times a year. For information about applying for a grant, please contact Kasey Dread at (615) 327-1236. The Nashville Academy of Medicine Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
